Mozamil Afzal is the chief investment officer at EFG Asset Management and lead manager on the New Capital Strategic Portfolio UCITS Fund. He is chairman of the EFG Asset Management Asset Allocation Committee and has overall responsibility for our investment process. He joined EFG Private Bank in 1994 and was appointed director and chief investment officer in March 2003, and as director of asset management in January 2000. He previously ran fixed income funds and multi-asset portfolios and has held supervisory roles in multi-manager long-only and hedge fund investments. Prior to joining EFG, he was an investment analyst in the Macroeconomic Policy Division at HM Treasury.
Michael Leithead joined EFG Asset Management in 2007. As Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Fixed Income Research, Michael runs three fixed income strategies and is in charge of the overall credit research process. He started by supporting chief investment officer Mozamil Afzal on the Total Return Bond Fund, now known as Global Value Credit. In 2009, Leithead was involved in the launch of the Wealthy Nations Bond Fund, and in 2012, the Asia Value Credit Fund. Prior to New Capital, he spent four years at Fidelity in various roles, including risk management and derivative valuations in fixed income.
Jeff is Portfolio Manager for the New Capital Global Equity Conviction Fund. Prior to joining EFG Asset Management, Jeff spent three years as in equity research at Goldman Sachs International and UBS Investment Bank, and four years working as an equity analyst at Rioni Capital Partners LLP, a global emerging market fund. Jeff is a CFA Charterholder, obtained a Bachelor Degree of Engineering in Tsinghua University in China, MPhil in Managed Studies at University of Cambridge and MSc in Accounting & Finance at London School of Economics.
Bibiana is Portfolio Manager for the New Capital Dynamic European Equity Fund. She re-joined EFGAM in 2012 after her MBA studies having previously worked for three years as an Investment Analyst as part of the hedge fund research team. Bibiana started her career at Marcuard Family Office, a multi-family office, where she worked for three years as a Financial Analyst.
Urs Beck joined EFG Asset Management in 2014 to launch the New Capital Swiss Select Equity Fund. He started his investment career with a decade working on the sell side, with roles at UBS, Bank Leu, Julius Baer and ZKB. While at the latter firm, he moved over to the buy side in 2007, becoming head of Swiss equities and running the groups Aktien Schweiz aktiv SPI portfolio until the end of 2013. During his tenure, the vehicle outperformed its benchmark every year apart from 2011 and Beck won the FERI award for best Swiss equities fund in 2013 and 2014.
Tony Jordan joined EFG Asset Management in 2009 and has run the New Capital Asia Pacific Equity Income Fund since launch in January 2011. He has more than 30 years experience in the investment markets, having worked at Atlantis Investment Management, Schroders Asia and Sun Hung Kai Securities.
Joel Rubenstein joined EFG Asset Management in 2016 as Senior Portfolio Manager. Prior to this Joel spent 12 years at Mazama Capital Management where he held various roles within the investment team, most recently managing EFGAMs New Capital US Growth Fund and running US equity mandates for institutional clients. Before being promoted to portfolio manager in 2007, he was a senior research analyst specialising primarily within the technology sector and certain consumer and industrial companies across all strategies. Before joining Mazama, he was a senior equity research associate in the technology group at Banc of America Securities and a senior research analyst at Analysis Group, a leading provider of economic and business strategy consulting services.
Jrme is head of alternatives at EFGAM in Geneva. He has more than 18 years of experience in hedge fund selection and allocation. Before joining EFGAM, Jrme was head of research and Senior Portfolio Manager at Palaedino, a Geneva based multi-family office. He has also worked as head of research at CMA, a fund of hedge funds boutique, which was subsequently acquired by EFGAM. Prior to that, he was a senior analyst for CTA and global macro hedge funds at Unigestion and a hedge fund quantitative analyst at Union Bancaire Prive.
Hilary joined EFGAM in 1999 as a director with the aim of developing and broadening the foundation of our investment approach. He currently runs the New Capital Global Alpha Fund whilst also serving as head of UK portfolio management.
Drawing on over 32 years experience including spells at Schroders and Flemings, Hilary previously oversaw global equity unit trusts, UK balanced pension funds and UK managed funds at Old Mutual Asset Management where he was latterly also head of emerging markets.
Hilary holds an MA in history from the University of Edinburgh and is also an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals (ASIP).
Tim joined EFG Asset Management in 2016 as Senior Portfolio Manager. Tim is a 22 year industry veteran who specialises in the research and analysis of financial services and financial technology growth companies. Prior to joining EFG, Tim covered these names for 13 years whilst at Mazama Capital Management, and before that his previous role was at Pacific Crest Securities, where he was a Senior Research Analyst specialising in financial technology stocks. Tim also worked at Stifel, Nicolaus & Co.as a Research Analyst focused on specialty finance companies. Tim holds a MBA from the University of Texas, graduating cum laude, and BA in Business Administration from Wichita State University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma Honour Society.
Grazia joined EFGAM in May 2017 from her position as Head of BSI Mutual funds since May 2012. After many years-experience in the asset management industry, she joined BSI in April 2007 as Head of EUR & CHF Bonds. Grazia managed the BSI-Multinvest – Short Term Bond EUR and the all maturities EUR bond funds BSI-Multibond EUR and BSI-Multinvest Bonds EUR. Before this, she worked for 10 years in Milan, where she was Head of Fixed Income, Treasury & Forex at Aureo Gestioni SGR. Grazia holds a degree in Economics at the University of Pavia (Italy), major in political economics and specialization in econometrics.
Roberto joined EFGAM in May 2017, coming from BSI where he started in March 2013, contributing to the launch of the BSI-Multinvest – Global Credit Bond which hes managed over the past 4 years. Roberto also managed the Global Dynamic bonds funds (Lux and Swiss domicile). After his Bachelor Degree in Economics (Torino – ITA), Roberto started and developed his career in the fixed income team at Ersel AM in 2000, managing government bond, corporate and total return funds.
Michele joined EFG Asset Management in May 2017 as part of EFG Internationals acquisition of BSI and is responsible for the New Capital Luxembourg Japanese Stocks Fund. He started at BSI in 1996 as a Portfolio Manager and since 1998 has been the PM for the New Capital Japan Equity Fund (formerly known as BSI-Multinippon). Prior to joining BSI he worked as analyst for Japan and South East Asia and was the Portfolio Manager for Asian equities and Japanese Convertibles for Banca del Gottardo. Michele has received several awards during his career. Michele holds a BA in Economics and a Masters in Economics from the University of Zurich.
Chris is an Equity Analyst responsible for fundamental equity research at EFGAM. Previously he worked at Signia Wealth, a wealth management boutique, where he spent three years as an equity investment manager. Before that, he worked at Blackfriars Asset Management, a global emerging markets manager, for three years as an equity research analyst. Chris has a bachelors degree in Business from Liverpool University, MSc in Accounting and Finance from Bath University and is also a CFA Charterholder.
Jonathan joined EFGAM in March 2017 as an Equity Analyst. Prior to joining he worked as an Equity Analyst at AA-Capital, a family office, where he helped manage a long/short fund. Prior to that, he spent five years as an Equity Analyst at Morgan Stanley Quilter. Jonathan started his career in 2005 at Nedbank in Johannesburg where he worked as a sell-side Equity Analyst. Jonathan has a Masters in Finance from London Business School, an Honours Degree in Econometrics from the University of Johannesburg, and a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Finance from the University of South Africa.
